Early Imperial Roman legionaries

I finished this cohort of Early Imperial Roman legionaries over the Xmas/New Year break but haven't got around to taking photos of them until now. They're a mix of Black Tree Design, Aventine Miniatures and Tin Soldier. The brilliant Aventine figures are later from the Macromannic Wars (160 to 180 AD) with the Nieder Mormter helmet but I think they mix in quite well otherwise. I'm painting an all Aventine cohort with manicae and will post some photos when these are finished. I'm getting a new camera shortly so have high hopes for an improvement in my photography! Whether or not this will be matched by reality remains to be seen...

  11. A lovely unit! The mini ranges mix well. That is my favourite shield transfer, going to build a legion with those, some day...

  12. Thanks Simon. They do mix quite well...are you painting any Aventine EIR at the moment? It is a great design, a legion of these like you last legion would be fantastic.
