Victrix Athenian Hoplites

Here are a few quick photos of my first unit of the new Victrix Athenian hoplites. I've included some comparison shots with the Immortal/Warlord and Wargames Factory plastic hoplites which may be helpful to some people. I'll try and take some better photos of these, when I have more time, as they're really great figures. This is the first of two units from the box, the second will have an at the ready pose rather than the over arm thrusting pose. Needless to say I've ordered a box of the Spartans as well!

I just got the latest issue of Ancient Warfare Volume VI, Issue 2, in the mail today. This is a cracker edition with several articles on Trajan's Dacian wars, including some illustrations and a great map of his campaigns. It is well worth subscribing to, if you don't already.

  7. A superb paint job on these. Also good to see the comparison shot and they all seem to be compatible with each other. Surpisingly the Wargames Factory figure looks rather good.

  8. Thanks Rodger, Christopher and Silver Whistle. They're really excellent figures and great value at two units per box. The Wargames Factory Hoplites are quite good but there isn't much variety in the helmets. I might try some spare Victrix heads/helmets on them, as they pretty compatible size wise.
