Dacian Wars

A Dacian Warband on the rampage

This post is a shameless plug for Craig Woodfield’s forthcoming Hail Caesar supplement on Rome’s Dacian Wars under the Emperor Trajan. Domitian’s Dacian Wars were earlier punitive expeditions in 86-87 AD, while Trajan’s campaigns of conquest against Dacia occurred later in 101-102 AD and 105-106 AD.  The supplement will be available for pre-order on the Warlord site this weekend (23 January 2013) with further details in the next Warlord newsletter but it includes 'rules for playing skirmish games, fighting sieges and using warships, as well as campaign and hobby ideas.'

I have seen a draft of the book and can confirm that it is excellent with the usual Warlord Games high production values, great photos, maps, scenarios, army lists, campaign ideas, historical snippets and entertaining reading! A group of us were involved with Craig in play testing some of the scenarios and earlier posts on this blog cover some of these games, in case anyone is interested:

  3. Very nice indeed, for some reason I've always had a soft spot for the Dacians.

  9. Whats the deal with them pulling the Dacian warhosts from their store? How are we supposed to paint up armies without minis to buy?

  10. I don't really know but maybe they're rereleasing them to go with the new supplement? They just did something similar with their ancient Germans. There are some nice metal Dacians ranges around like Foundry and OG.

  12. Excellent that is great to hear! I'm still waiting on mine. HC is really good for fast, fun multi-player games. Apparently there are two other HC supplements in the works - one on the invasion of Britain and the other on Germanic Wars.
