Sumerians - Spearmen of Ur

Here are a few photos of a unit of early Sumerian spearmen for the city of Ur which I've just finished. Like many of my biblical projects, I've got a long way to go with my Sumerians, as I'm painting two armies - one for the city of Ur and the other for the city of Lagash! Figures are a mix of Castaway Arts, Cutting Edge, Eureka and Foundry.

Simon Miller (http://bigredbat.blogspot.com) has kindly sent me a copy of his To the Strongest Rules to try out and I'm really looking forward to giving these a run. If your interested in these rules email Simon (contact details on his blog) and check out his game reports. Aaron Bell (http://prufrockian-gleanings.blogspot.com), another SoA blogger on the Planet Ancients feed, has just posted a report of a game with these rules.

  4. Looking good, it's always so much harder when you need to supply both sides

  5. Nicely done - Sumerians are always very appealing to do. Figure ranges seem to mix in well together.

  6. Thanks Simon, the Cutting Edge and Foundry figures are the best but it seemed a waste not to use the Castaway figures which I've had for years.

  11. Thanks Pat, the Cutting Edge and Foundry are the best figures but the others do mix in quite well.
