Spartan Command

Here are some photos of three command stands for my Spartan Army. The figures are mainly Foundry with two by Gorgon Studios and a single Xyston 28mm figure. The close up shots were taken with a macro lens and while this is great for detail it also tends to emphasise any slight mistakes or sloppiness in the painting!

I recently received my copy of Dacia The Roman Wars Volume 1 Sarmizegetusa by Radu Oltean. This is  a superb book, lavishly illustrated and painstakingly researched, it is definitely worth getting if you're at all interested in Rome's Dacian Wars. It is available from Karawansaray Publishers.

  1. Fabulous stands, although I don't fancy that goat's chances of a happy ending!

  6. Fantastic looking Spartans, Mike. All are superb and unmistakeably Spartans, but I really like the scorpion icon. Best, Dean

  7. Thanks Dean, it is interesting the different shield designs the Spartans used with the lambda apparently only in use from the time of the Peloponnesian War.
