Neo-Babylonians - Chaldean Infantry

Here are a few photos of some Chaldean infantry for my Neo-Babylonian army. The figures are by Newline Designs and are the typical mix of back rank archers and front rank spearmen. According to my well thumbed copy of Armies of the Ancient Near East, 3000 BC to 539 BC by Nigel Stillman and Nigel Tallis, the Chaldeans were levied by the Neo-Babylonian kings with the majority of them being archers.

  1. The light blue with bronze trim work make these figures pop! I am very fond of the Newline ancients. Wonderful figures and splendid painting.

  2. Thanks Jonathan, I really like them too. I have quite a few of their biblical ranges and also quite a few of their older ranges they sold to SHQ.

  3. Mike, I would enjoy seeing a post discussing your new copyright disclaimer. Having been "TANGO01ed" many times on TMP, I am conflicted with every republishing on my content. Your start might lead to an interesting discussion.

  4. Jonathan the thing is he never asks permission, or never has on the dozen or so posts of mine he has copied over the years. I didn't worry about it to start with but found it annoying a few times when I went to put a post on TMP and he had beaten me to it. I saw the copyright disclaimer on some other blogs, so I thought I'd try it but he still copied a post. I left a polite message on TMP asking him to stop copying my photos and posts...

  8. Great work as usual and it reminds me that I really should paint some more of my Bronze Age figures.
Tango occasionally reposts some of my work to TMP, it doesn't bother me as I stopped visiting TMP a few years ago of a variety of reasons, Tango being one of them. I don't think your copyright notice will have any effect on him though and unfortunately there's nothing you can do to enforce your notice as our chum Tango doesn't claim it's his work and he always post a link to the source. Which is how I can tell he's posted some of my work as I get traffic from TMP.
    Cheers

  9. Thanks Steve, following your blog and added you to my blog list.

I guess most bloggers don't mind and are happy to get the extra traffic but over the years he has copied/reposted at least a dozen posts of mine and I now find it annoying. I stopped posting and visiting TMP like you, for variety of reasons,Tango's incessant spam on the message boards was definitely one of them. I left a message on TMP asking him to stop copying my photos and posts, hopefully that will discourage him.

  11. Exellent again. Not familiar with those archers. The figures do indeed look great. Choice of colours is very effective.
Must get my Chariot Rampant armies done. First battle after long thoughts on choice will be Philistines v Hebrew with David and Goliath duel to start.

    1. Thanks Colin, I think the archers are actually Babylonians from the Persian range that Newline sold to SHQ. Sounds good - I'll look forward to the Hebrew vs Philistines report on your blog.
